Finding Myself in September
August will always hold a special place in my heart—it’s my birthday month, after all! But honestly, September has always been my favorite. It’s a month of change, just like the slow shift into autumn. Even though the heat might still be hanging around and it can still feel like summer, there’s something about the whole vibe—the warm browns, golden yellows, deep reds, and forest greens—that just feels cozy and fresh. It used to be all about the back-to-school buzz after Labor Day, but those days are behind me now. These days, September means pumpkin spice everything, and honestly, I’m here for it.
I’m trying something new, and I really hope it sticks. Over the past few weeks, I’ve been making an effort to stay productive—whatever that looks like in this season. I truly love being home with my little one, and I’m so grateful for these moments we get to share. But if I’m being honest, there’s a part of me that needs a break from “mom mode” every now and then, even if it’s just for a few minutes a day. One of the ways I’ve been giving myself that space is through writing. Sometimes it’s just five minutes, sometimes I get lucky and squeeze in a couple of hours. Either way, I take what I can get. It’s become my way to breathe, reflect, and feel like me again.
That’s why I’m especially excited for September. It already feels like a natural fresh start—the kind of month that invites change without demanding too much. As the world slowly shifts around me, I’m setting a few simple, gentle goals for myself. Nothing major—just small ways to bring a little more intention, creativity, and calm into my days.
September Goals
Write More
Whether it’s journaling, blogging, or just jotting down random thoughts, I want to make more space for writing—whatever that looks like each day.
Go for Walks
Fresh air, a change of scenery, and a little movement always help reset my mood. Even short walks with the stroller count.

Prioritize Self-Care Nights
Think face masks, comfy pajamas, candles, or just a quiet hour to myself. I’m making time to recharge, guilt-free.
Be Fully Present with My Kids
Not just physically there—but really there. Fewer distractions, more eye contact, more slow, intentional moments.
See Friends at Least Once a Month
Even just a coffee catch-up or a quick phone call—something to stay connected and fill my cup socially.
These goals aren’t about perfection—they’re little reminders to care for myself while caring for others. If I can write a little more, walk a little more, and be just a bit more present, that’s enough. Here’s to a season of small shifts, cozy moments, and giving myself the grace to grow at my own pace.
