Welcome to the World, my little one

The moment I heard his first cry, something shifted inside me. It was as if time paused—just long enough for my heart to recognize him. I hadn’t seen his face yet, but I already knew: he was mine, and I was his.

A little over two weeks ago, we welcomed our second child,  Jonathan Mateo Sanchez to the world. After months of waiting, wondering and preparing, we finally met our baby boy. The birth of our second son was nothing like the first — this time, it was a planned C-section. I was calm, nervous, and completely aware of everything happening around me. Everything about that morning felt calm. I knew what was coming — the prep, the waiting, the cold air in the operating room. This was our second time, and I felt steady, ready.

After months of waiting, wondering, and preparing, the moment finally came—we met our baby boy. Though I couldn’t hold him right away, I watched with tears in my eyes as my husband cradled him gently in his arms. It was in that quiet moment that I saw it: our son, peaceful and calm, already feeling safe in his daddy’s embrace. When they finally placed him in my arms, everything else faded into the background. The noise, the lights, even the ache in my body—none of it mattered. It was just him and me, heart to heart, and in that quiet, sacred moment, the whole world stood still.

I will always remember the moment he opened his eyes for the first time. I held him close and whispered, “My little Mateo.” And in that quiet, perfect moment, my heart melted.
